2015 Coaching Staff

Jeff Atkinson played club soccer while at Evanston High School and the University of Wyoming. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Wyoming in Spanish Education. Jeff is a Spanish teacher at Rock Springs High School.  Jeff was named the 2012 Region IX NJCAA Coach of the Year and holds several NSCAA and USSF certificates including goal keeper certificates.

Atkinson also coached the Rock Springs High School boy's soccer team for 9 seasons. While with the Tigers he helped lead them to 5 state tournaments. The Atkinson lead RSHS teams earned a 3rd, 4th and 6th place finish at the Wyoming State Cup during his tenure. He and his wife, Jennifer, have three sons—Timothy, Landon and Seth and a daughter - Sydney.

Coach Atkinson starts his eleventh season as the head coach of Western's men's soccer team. He has compiled a 85-94-11 (.476) overall record while at Western. During the 2005 season he led Western to a Wyoming State Club Championship. Under his direction, Western played their first intercollegiate season in 2006, finishing third in Region IX. The 2007 season saw the Mustangs make some great strides and they were able to finish second in the Region. WWCC played in the Region IX championship game in 2008. The 2009 season the Mustangs again finished Region IX in second place. The 2010 season was a difficult season as the Mustangs finished 5th in the Region. One bright spot in 2011 is that Coach Atkinson picked up his 100th career coaching victory. The Mustangs in 2011, got back to a winning record and finished 4th in the Region. The 2012 season was one for the record books as the Mustangs won their first Region IX Championship, hosted and finished second in the NJCAA West District Tournament and competed at the NJCAA National Tournament in Albany GA.  The Mustangs won one match and lost one match at the 2012 National Tournament for an 8th place finish in the Nation.  The 2013 season started quickly but slowed down for a 6th place Region IX finish.   The 2014 season was a good learning process with a young team, the Mustangs finished the regular season in second place in Region IX North.  This season should be another chance for the Mustangs to prove that they are one of the top NJCAA schools for men’s soccer.  This year’s squad should be strong defensively and explosive offensively.

Matt Robles continues his second stint as the Assistant Coach for the men's soccer team. 2015 will be Robles’ sixth season as the assistant coach for the Mustangs. His first season was in 2006, which was the first varsity season for Mustang soccer. Coach Robles has also helped coach youth teams for the Green River Spurs and the Cheyenne Sting since he was a youth. Coach Robles is very excited to be back at WWCC and is looking forward to a very exciting and intense season in 2015.

Coach Robles played soccer at Green River High School. He then attended Laramie County Community College and Western playing a season at each school. While at Western he helped the then Spartans win the Wyoming Club State Championship. He lives in Green River with his wife, Sarah, and his 7-year-old daughter, Makaylee.
