2011 Coaching Staff

Head Coach

Jeff Atkinson played club soccer while at Evanston High School and the University of Wyoming. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wyoming in Spanish education. Jeff is a Spanish teacher at Rock Springs High School since the 2000 - 2001 school year. Coach Atkinson also coached the Rock Springs High School boy’s soccer team for 9 seasons. While with the Tigers he helped lead them to 5 state tournaments. The Atkinson lead RSHS teams earned a 3rd, 4th and 6th place finish at the Wyoming State Cup during his tenure. He and his wife, Jennifer, have three sons—Timothy, Landon and Seth and a daughter - Sydney.

Coach Atkinson starts his seventh season as the head coach of Western’s men’s soccer team. He has compiled a 44-53-9 (.457) overall record while at Western. During the 2005 season he led Western to a Wyoming State Club Championship. Under his direction, Western played their first intercollegiate season in 2006, finishing third in Region IX. The 2007 season saw the Mustangs make some great strides and they were able to finish second in the Region. WWCC played in the Region IX championship game in 2008. The 2009 season the Mustangs again finished Region IX in second place. Last season was a difficult season as the Mustangs finished 5th in the Region. One bright spot last year is that Coach Atkinson picked up his 100th career head coaching victory during the 2010 WWCC season. Coach Atkinson said, “The 2011 season should be a lot of fun to watch as we have a very talented team that is willing to give their all for each other and the school.”

Assistant Coach

Matt Robles starts his second stint as an Assistant Coach for the men’s soccer team. His first season was in 2006, which was the first varsity season for Mustang soccer. Coach Robles has also helped coach youth teams for the Green River Spurs and the Cheyenne Sting since he was a youth. Coach Robles is very excited to be back at WWCC and is looking forward to a very exciting and intense season in 2011.

Coach Robles played soccer at Green River High School. He then attended Laramie County Community College and Western playing a season at each school. While at Western he helped the then Spartans win the Wyoming Club State Championship. He now works and OCI Wyoming and lives in Green River with his wife, Sarah, and his 3-year-old daughter, Makaylee.





Assistant Coach
Patrick Ritter will help assist the WWCC program this year specializing on the defense. Patrick was a player in the WWCC program from 2007-2008. After a successful career at Western he transferred to Dakota Wesleyan in South Dakota where he finished his collegiate playing career for the 2009 and 2010 seasons. Patrick prepped at Rock Springs High in Rock Springs WY. Patrick is a welcome addition to the staff this year as he gains coaching experience and prepares to continue his playing career.





Graduate Assistant Coach
Gilbert Gonzalez will be finishing his degree at Western this year and will be helping out the WWCC soccer program as an offensive specialist. Gilbert played at Western on the 2009 and 2010 teams. His sophomore season he was named to 2nd team All-Region IX. Gilbert is currently 6th in the WWCC career goals list, 5th on the career assists list and 6th on the career offensive list.
